Spring
Spring is similar in nature to the 'Arkanoid' style games that were popular in the games industry's distant past. We have dispensed with the tired idea of a bat and ball, and replaced it with a dynamic and bouncy spring character that is so intuitive that once it is seen, the game is easily understood, and is rapidly addictive. The aim is to compress the spring and release it in a particular direction that will force it to crash through (tagging) as many blocks as is possible. Every time the spring tags a coloured block (white and gold in the colour version of the game) the player is awarded extra time. Once the bottom row of blocks has been tagged (and thus all have disappeared) the blocks fall down a row, to expose a new row at the top of the screen. The game plays indefinitely, as the players progress the coloured blocks become more sparse, and thus time will eventually run out, but a clever player will be able to store time up when the there are plenty of shaded blocks, allowing them to continue for a long time afterward. We have seen from our usage statistics that it is not uncommon for players to be totally absorbed by this game for hours at a time.
