Spider

Spider

Long Description:

Game description: SPIDER RULES: Spider is a game where reflex and agile fingers are needed. A player walks as a spider in the rectangular board. The board's field consists of an empty space and a web. In the beginning, all the board - except edges - is empty. The player finishes level when web is spinned on 65% of board's area. There are flies and worms to disturb during the game. Flies can move only in empty regions. Worms walk along the edge of a web. Touching any of these animals finishes with a life lost. Player can trap flies and worms in order to eat them (which gives extra points). Different flies' spieces move with different speed. So as to enlarge the web's area, the spider needs to enter an empty space. After that, it leaves a thread behind. Now, if a thread is touched either by spider or by big fly, player looses life. When spider reaches edge of the web again, selected area becomes a web. Levels differ with animals on it. In the beginning, there are only worms on it. As player finishes levels, different spieces of flies appear. This makes enlarging the web more challenging. MOVING AROUND: Move using arrow keys. To pause the game press navi key. OPTIONS: There is possibility to turn on/off sound and vibrations. Additionally,  skill level can be changed. OTHERS: If Spider is quit while a game is already started, its state will beautomaticly saved. After running the program, "continue" brings back to the level where game was closed. Best scores are saved - for each skill level separately. There is also a "quick-game-start" option: just after running Spider, option "play" starts the game without need to enter menu. It starts new game, or continues saved one if it is possible.

what is j2me?

The first edition for the Java platform was Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE), which supported the development of desktop applications. The fundamental idea was to provide a language which supported platform-independent code.

Shortly after, a new edition was released, Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), providing support for large-scale, enterprise-wide applications.

As we enter the post-PC era, the market for network-connected consumer devices - such as smart mobile phones, televisions, VCRs and PDAs - is expected to grow at a phenomenal rate. In order to provide a compelling Java technology solution for these devices, Sun has introduced the latest addition to the Java platform: Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME).

Within J2ME, there are two broad categories, known as configurations. Connected Device Configuration (CDC) is a set of APIs to support fixed devices such as a television set-top box. Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) is a set of APIs targeted at devices that have limited processing power, display and memory. The majority of these devices will also be mobile.

On top of configurations are profiles. Profiles provide APIs for user interface design, network support, and persistent storage. The Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) is a set of Java APIs which, together with the CLDC, provides a complete J2ME application runtime environment targeted at mobile devices, such as mobile phones, pagers and entry level PDAs.
