Tennis – a quick, dynamic, and exciting game. Whether you prefer concrete or grass courts, Over The Net delivers the excitement and dynamics of a real match..
At first glance it seems easy: hit the ball over the net into your opponent’s court. Yet you must focus all your powers of concentration. The racket must become one with your arm, and your eyes kept right on the ball at all times.
Over the years, this sport has undergone a technological revolution. Rackets, balls, and even courts have been radically changed. Yet the basic rules have not changed for centuries: they are still based on the 0, 15, 30 and 40 count. Another constant of tennis is its popularity: a game for the aristocracy is now one of the most recognized sports worldwide.
THE CHALLENGE
The graphics are Japanese manga style, with heads disproportionately larger than the bodies.
Before starting to play, the user can choose to play a single game compete in a championship.
There are three levels of difficulty and three courts from which to choose: clay, cement and grass. The type of court affects ball dynamics.
The game controls are displayed in the main menu. You use keys 1, 4, 5 and 6 to move, and key 7 to serve. Use the # key to exit the game and return to the main menu. When serving, press the 7 key continuously to determine the power of your serve. The longer you hold the key, the more powerful the serve. When the key is released, the ball is served.
During the game, the player needs to move towards the ball, and the shot will be of medium force. The direction can be governed through keys 5 and 6. A black cross indicates the bouncing point of the ball.
When serving, the player can only move right or left (5 or 6) in the proper half of the court, but is free to move anywhere during the game. Moving towards the net increases the chance of shooting the ball out.
